Painting Cortona – 7/29

On Tuesday, we went to one of Craig’s favorite places to paint: Cortona. He had done a number of workshops in the area and knew of some good spots for cityscapes. For my first painting, I ended up painting behind Craig. It was very beneficial as we were painting the same subject a church. As I was painting, I was able to look over his shoulder to see how he did painted and did certain areas; then I “copied” some things in my painting.

After lunch, Craig showed me a great spot for painting a different church. When we got there, Jason was painting it; I set up just a little down the road from him. The weather that day was partly cloudy, partly sunny so I got some nice shots of the church with some amazing light and shadows. I got set up and started on a painting; however, given the time constraints that day, I was not able to finish it.
