Friday morning we met at the Corciano town steps for a final group picture. I’d like to point out that black cage-like thing hanging above the group to the left of the archway.
We called it the “man-cage” as in medieval times they actually used that as a form of punishment for crimes done in the city. They would put the person in the cage on display for all who entered the city; a form of public humiliation
and torment. It’s strictly for historical “decoration” and “the man-cage” became the landmark name for meeting at this spot. After the group picture it was back up to the monastery for the final critique and last day of the class. The photo shows Craig with some of the final paintings. He reviewed each ones painting stating what was working, what wasn’t and he gave suggestions for changes that could make it better. Also mixed in were some tips on the business aspects of becoming a successful artist.
I've also included a photo of my final painting. After the critique, people dispersed for lunch but we had to be back at the piazza at 5:00 to hang our work for the art show.Gabrielle, our Corciano host, had arranged the
Corciano Art Show for the students to show and sell the work they had done during the summer. It was an informal event where our paintings were hung on wires and taped to the building. Food and refreshments were served.
The first picture is my work in the show. I’ve also included some of my classmates sitting in front more of the work. Robert sold one painting and Theo sold two or three paintings, so it was great night for them.
